Additional information Zertifikat Deutsch B1

The exam Zertifikat Deutsch B1 can be taken by ILSF course participants as well as external exam candidates. It is important to register for the exam in plenty of time. In comparison to certificates A1, A2 and Zertifikat Deutsch Plus B2, which can be sat at any time, Zertifikat Deutsch B1 (ZD B1) can only be sat on specific dates.

Preparation for the Zertifikat Deutsch B1 exam

Unfortunately, some external candidates do not pass the Zertifikat Deutsch B1 exam. In most cases this is due to problems with writing letters which is required for the written part of the test. Others don’t pass the oral part. This is why we recommend that you prepare for the test intensively, in particular if you are trying to obtain citizenship. ELOQUIA offers special preparation courses which are based on the corresponding Zertifikat Deutsch exams. If you are interested in our German courses, we would ask you to complete our online German test, so that we can assess your passive German knowledge and can then arrange for a date to do our oral placement test at our institute. Passing the Zertifikat Deutsch B1 exam

To pass the Deutsch Zertifikat B1 exam you must have achieved 60% of the maximum points in both the written and oral tests. This equates to 135 points in the written and 45 points in the oral test. If you do not pass or don’t do one of the two parts you may re-do the part within the calendar year or the following calendar year. Passed parts can be credited later. Generally you may take the test as many times as you like. People who require the certificate to obtain German citizenship but do not have a B1 language knowledge, can alternatively take the DTZ (Deutsch-Test für Zuwanderer) test. The DTZ Zuwanderer exam must be re-taken in its entirety should one part not have been passed. Credit for passed parts is not possible. This is why we recommend the Zertifikat Deutsch B1 to demonstrate sufficient knowledge to obtain German citizenship.
